God has been at work in your neighborhood since the very beginning. And now, you have the awesome privilege to join God in His mission to love & be involved in the lives of your neighbors as you walk & pray for them.  Prayer walking is great for individuals & families with children of all ages. Practice social distancing as you walk & encounter others, & wash your hands before you leave & when you return home. Below are some helpful suggestions:

Pray with God’s Help.

  • Invite the Spirit of God to accompany you, guiding your steps & your words.

  • Be attentive during moments of silence, allowing the Holy Spirit to help you pray in line with His heart.

Pray with God’s Word.

  • Pray The Lord's Prayer: Luke 11:1-4

  • Pray the prayer for open hearts: Acts 16:14

  • Choose a particular bible passage or theme as a base for your prayers throughout one day’s prayer-walk. Use another to launch your prayers the next day, & so on.

COVID-19 Prayer Prompts

  • Pray for those who are fearful.

  • Pray for those who are alone.

  • Pray for the frail and elderly.

  • Pray for food and provisions.

  • Pray for those who are just annoyed by the inconvenience.

  • Pray for opportunities to be the hands and feet of Christ.

  • Pray for families with kids.

  • Pray for healing for the sick.

Pray with Purpose.

  • Pray for the present-hour needs of people & places that you see.

  • Sketch a map to focus on select streets and homes.

  • Pray quietly. You can be on the scene without making one.

  • In confidence of God’s unfolding purpose which includes your preparation prayer, don’t look to initiate gospel conversations during your prayer-walk. Pray for God to open doors of communication.

  • Explain what you're doing to inquirers: “We’re praying God’s blessing on the neighborhood. Are there specific ways we can pray for you or others?”

  • Be persistent. Try prayer-walking the same areas near your home in a regular way. You’ll often find that your prayers deepen & your concern & awareness of God’s heart for people in it.

Pray with a Partner.

  • You can prayer-walk alone, & a lot of people do, but may find your prayers more focused when expressed with a friend (walking 6 ft apart). Pray audibly for clarity & better agreement. As you finish, discuss what you thought & perceived. In closing, pray together about those things.
